Masking Distress and Conquering Adversities

“No matter how much falls on us, we keep plowing ahead. That’s the only way to keep the roads clear.” – Greg Kincaid

We do not realize how blessed we are to wake up every morning, in our homes, relieved from the lamentable dread of going out, amid this alarming situation. Every frontline worker, who has been working tirelessly even during the pandemic wouldn’t want anything more than to remain at home and be protected; however, they can't. They leave their homes to help keep a similarity to ordinariness for other people, at an incredible danger to themselves and their families. Despite the hardships and health risks, they have continued to do their jobs during the pandemic; be it providing lifesaving medicines, picking up waste or cleaning the hospitals. When they can imperil their lives for our wellbeing, why would it be a good idea for us to release their altruistic endeavours to no end? We have certainly heard the phrase: "stay at home" multiple times, but it somehow doesn’t seem to be enough. So, however intense as it seems to be, staying at home is the most ideal way we can help these frontline workers.

The contrasting effect on different segments of the Indian population has also illustrated Indian society’s stratification. A mere three months ago, a looming season of normality was expected by all. The first wave of covid-19 that crested last year seemed to be ebbing away. True, the virus had stolen lives and battered livelihoods, but now as everyone heaved a sigh of relief and started limping back towards normalcy, the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has struck with an unforeseen fury. It has not only somewhere disrupted the recovery after the first wave in 2020 but has additionally set some new challenges which are yet to overcome.

Midst this situation, various organisations are working tirelessly to cushion the impact of the crisis by supporting those affected by COVID-19 in any way they can. In alignment with these organisations, we at Enactus DSC are working towards providing all the verified COVID-19 relief resources, which are being updated regularly.
