Realistic or idealistic- paving the way towards exploration.

"The collective conscience of a dynamic society is ever-evolving and is bound to change with time for continuous development and enhancement."

The Government of India announced the New Education Policy on 31 July 2020 that will replace the thirty-four year old National Policy on Education, 1986. NEP envisions to transform the institutions into a citadel of learning by following a holistic and flexible curriculum that is best suited to the needs of the 21st century. Along the educational spectrum, these elements contribute far beyond just nurturing a conducive learning environment.

The New Education Policy is an extensive framework that directs the growth of the young minds of the country. Observing a significant shift from the former 10+2 structure to the new 5+3+3+4 plan, the program thrives to render innumerable opportunities and instil innovational thinking from a young age. While the entire structure is divided into four phases: foundational, preparatory, middle and secondary, the students will reap the benefits of broadened flexibility and choice of subjects so that they can choose their own paths according to their talents and interests. An umbrella approach to the medium of instruction shall catalyse equality amongst the diverse disciplines of the country, thereby, strengthening unity amongst the masses.

Considering the Western education system, where no firm separation between arts and sciences and vocational and academic courses is perpetrated, equal prominence shall be provided to all sectors, in order to open the doors for exploration. Developing students through the comprehensive entirety, it shall make the students not only book smart but socially intelligent as well.

Through brainstorming sessions and on the ground field research, the creative elaboration shall contribute to innovative, sustainable and future-phasing rationales. With greater choices, eclectic subjects and real-time experience, the regret of choosing an uninteresting field will perish, and with this psyche evading, the existing prejudices shall diminish and create an optimistic and gratifying work environment for the young learners.

In today’s globalised world, the policy allows universities from among the top countries to be able to establish their campuses in India, allowing foreign exposure, socialisation, cultural exchange and easy global admittance.

The successful implementation of the program will require substantial funding. With the government having set a target for the year 2040 to enforce the policy with due totality, will it be an easy undertaking? With diverse activities and subjects, will the corporate sector be able to furnish dynamic jobs? Will it be easy for the masses to accept the new proposal and walk along the boulevard of opportunities? Soon, the whole nation will know.
