Are we talking of a partnership for certificates? Are we talking of an internship?

Rahul, a 20 year old CA aspirant is out having dinner with his family. They are dining in celebration, celebration for Rahul’s excellent performance in IPCC Group II. Little do they they know about the difficulties that lie ahead. In two months time, Rahul is on the brink of suicide. His articleship application has not even been considered in most organisations which do not even open their application forms without a substantial reference for the aspirant. Such a system has no place for a person like Rahul who had no contacts whatsoever in any company. His career hung in balance and was in serious danger but there wasn’t much that he could do.

This sadly is the truth about our country and its systems.

A country which cannot offer each and every one of its citizens an equal opportunity to grow and succeed runs the risk of collapsing into a deep abyss filled with despair and darkness.
Upholding meritocracy is one of the pivotal tasks in nation building, which helps in bringing better minds and attitudes to the fore and instill a good decision making culture in all spheres of growth.
But the acute supply-demand problem clubbed with the insistence of some people on using personal clout has resulted in the fall of meritocracy in our country.
In addition to exacerbating the problem of rich poor divide, it has also prevented the growth of talented people. Which, in turn breeds this culture.

As enlightened and responsible citizens of our country we must stand up and raise our voices against this culture and strive to remove it from our country.
With the dream of a growing and prosperous India  entrenched deep in our hearts, we ENACTUS DSC strive to bring back meritocracy and end the #sourceraj.

  1. While the world keeps creating a propaganda over star kids, no one knows that the nepotism prevails just equally on this side of the curtain too. It seems that the word “deserving” has lost its meaning somewhere in this world of aristocracy. Our country is developing indeed, where a political connection is stronger than a well built profile, where a call from a resourceful person is more influential than an application from a worthy candidate.

What these top notch enterprises fail to realise is that candidates spend years and years just to intern at their enterprise. But down the drain is all the labour, when you realise that a high score is always less than a high source. Sufferers are the students who believe in building their career through their ardent efforts and want to make their parents proud through their achievements.

It is a high time that we realise that not everything had to be concentrated to the creamy layer of the society. We need to learn to segregate the efforts and references and start offering opportunities to those who deserve.
